Mieke Vander Heyden
Psychotherapist, Life Coach, Relationship Counselor
Supporting nomads, expats and seekers through change and emotional challenges, while training therapists to integrate creative and somatic approaches into their work
About
I’m Mieke, founder of Moving Hearts Therapy, with over 15 years of experience guiding people through transitions, emotional stuckness, and life questions—especially those navigating a non-traditional path. I blend integrative psychotherapy with creative, movement- based approaches like dance & art therapy, psychodrama, laughter yoga and somatic work. My work is rooted in depth, lightness, and play—offering spaces where healing becomes both profound and surprisingly joyful. I’ve lived nomadically for 10 years now, working with international clients and communities, often in their native or shared language. I also create spaces for authentic connection through conscious events, community workshops, therapeutic retreats, and online nomad-expat circles & online programs.
I support individuals and couples (especially cross-cultural ones), groups, and professionals who want to grow, heal, and stay rooted while moving through life. Whether it’s navigating heartbreak, burnout, belonging, or big life changes. I hold space with depth and a touch of playfulness.
Where I come from / Where I reside
Originally from Belgium. Currently based/slowmading between Mexico, Colombia, and Bulgaria, depending on the season, and still exploring new places from time to time.
Why Bansko?
After the vibrant chaos and sensory overload of Central America, Bansko came as a surprising contrast. I didn’t expect to feel so calm, grounded, and genuinely content here. The slower pace, the fresh air, and the walkable distances gave me the space to breathe again. Unlike other places where I live, more integrated into local cultures, here I find myself being nourished and inspired by other entrepreneurs who share a similar lifestyle.
